Reed-Solomon salvage
Recovers the link from a photograph of a QR code that is too blurred, bloomed or skewed for a scanner to read. It locks the module grid against the parts of a QR that the specification fixes, then attacks each Reed-Solomon block on its own.
or drop one here — everything runs in this browser, nothing is uploaded
No photo loaded. The fitted module grid is drawn over the code once it is found.
Drag the four round handles onto the outer corners of the code, and the square ones on each edge to follow a curve. Any corner can go anywhere — which way up the code is, and whether it is dark on light, is worked out for you. Scroll or pinch to zoom, drag the photo to pan, and use the arrow keys to nudge the last handle moved.
Reference run — load a photo to start
A false lead is a combination error correction accepted by chance, whose content does not hold up. With millions of tries a few are expected; they are set aside and never shown as an answer.
Each guessed piece compared with the photo alone. Random data agrees on about half the bits, so a piece only counts as showing up when its agreement would be unlikely by chance — a short piece needs to be nearly perfect.

The recovery runs entirely in your browser. The image you choose is decoded by the browser itself, read into memory, and worked on there. It is not uploaded and not transmitted — there is no server to send it to.
So that a long search can be stopped and picked up later, the photo you are working on, the grid fitted to it and how far the search has got are kept in your browser's own storage, on your device. Only the most recent search is kept, and it is deleted as soon as the code is recovered or you discard the search. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it too.
The same is true of whatever the code turns out to contain. The recovered link is displayed to you and nothing else is done with it.
Only the one unfinished search described above, in your browser's storage and never sent anywhere. No accounts, no analytics of our own, no cookies set by this site.
This site shows advertising supplied by Google. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure those adverts, which may include adverts based on your prior visits to this or other websites. This happens in your browser and is separate from the recovery itself — advertisers receive no part of your photograph or of anything recovered from it.
You can review and change what Google collects at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time from the link the consent notice leaves on the page.
This site is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing from anyone.
